Who or what is Aiden? Aiden (pronounced EYE-den) is an entity that is tethered to Jodie via a psychic link. He's been with her since birth, and the two are quite literally inseparable. It's unclear exactly what the limits are, but he can't go more than a few hundred feet away from her in any direction without causing them both a lot of discomfort.
He is semi-sentient, in that he seems to have a will of his own, and he can definitely do things without Jodie's input or consent (and frequently does). Nonetheless, he can't speak, and he is completely invisible to everyone except Jodie. He can physically interact with the world, however, in the way a poltergeist can - he can break things, mess with electronic equipment, hit and strangle people, etc.
Psychic abilities: Aiden, and by connection Jodie, has a number of psychic abilities! Aiden is fully capable of mind control of a living person (as long as they don't touch anyone) - this control is complete while it lasts, extending to really extreme things like killing one's colleagues, or even killing yourself. He can also access memories through contact with objects or people (living or dead), allowing Jodie to see things she wouldn't otherwise be able to know. She can also act as a medium between the infraworld (the world of spirits and souls) and the living world, conveying the messages of dead people to their living loved ones.
Also, probably one of the most frequent ways Jodie can make use of Aiden is simply to spy on people. Being completely invisible to everyone (and being able to phase through doors, windows, floors and ceilings at will) makes Aiden perfect for eavesdropping on conversations, collecting information, that kind of thing.
Defense/healing: Aiden is also capable of putting up a protective shield around Jodie, one capable of deflecting bullets. And he can heal wounds from the inside out when necessary. He probably couldn't stop a missile or bomb from blowing her to smithereens, but she's generally a lot tougher than she looks.
CIA badass: In addition to Aiden and all the cool shit he can do, Jodie is a fully-trained CIA agent with all the skills that entails. Basically, even without Aiden, she'd be a badass. With Aiden, she's practically a one-woman army.
